Mindfulness Mindfulness Meditation MP3’s
These guided mindfulness MP3’s are provided exclusively for Vitalise Psychology clients. You can choose between three different types of mindfulness meditation practices; the breath, the body, or emotions.
Mindfulness of Breath
The mindfulness of the breath exercise is a basic, but powerful mindfulness practice. It involves focusing your attention on the physical sensations that are associated with breathing, such as the rise and fall of the belly, or the sensations of air as it travels in and out of your nostrils. By bringing your attention back to your breath whenever you find it wandering, you are training your attention and helping to develop a greater awareness of your internal monologue.
Mindfulness of Body
The body scan is designed to get you in touch with your body; to develop greater awareness and acceptance of your bodily sensations as they occur from moment to moment. When we experience physical pain or discomfort, the common reaction is to try and distract ourselves, or to find a way to numb the pain. Mindfulness trains us to do the opposite, by focusing on the uncomfortable sensations, examining all of the associated qualities with openness and curiosity. The body scan teaches us to make space for whatever physical sensations we may be experiencing, by changing the way we relate to these feelings.
Mindfulness of Emotions
The mindfulness of emotions meditation is designed to help get you in touch with your inner emotional landscape. We often give value labels to our emotions, calling some ‘good’ (such as happiness or excitement) and others ‘bad’ (such as anxiety or sadness). Mindfulness is about coming to the realisation that feelings are not good or bad, they are just feelings; it can be the label that we give to them that effects the way we experience them. This mindfulness exercise is aimed at helping you notice your emotions and the physical sensations that often accompany them. When these feelings arise, mindfulness teaches us to accept them, without judging or trying to change them.
